Born and raised in Washington D.C., Charisse attended St. John’s College High School and upon graduation decided that New York City would be the best fit for her to study Public Relations at St. John’s University. While attending St. John’s Charisse had ambitions of walking on to the women’s basketball team, an act that rarely happens. She accomplished this goal and became a Big East Division One College Student Athlete and even went on to become a starter during part of her career with the university. After her sophomore year, Charisse decided to hang up her sneakers in order to focus on Public Relations internships and get the experience she would need in the real world. While in college she interned for the NBA’s Washington Wizards in their Corporate Communications Department, the Rachael Ray Show in their Publicity Department and for well respected PR agencies including G.S. Schwartz Public Relations and Pollock Communications. Charisse went on to graduate in 2010 at the top of her class, receiving Cum Laude honors.
After graduation Charisse decided to move to Miami to jumpstart her professional PR career. She worked on Miami Beach with one of the better known agencies — TARA, INK. Public Relations. While working at TARA, INK she had clients including Chloe, Chopard, H& M, de GRISOGONO, and Art Miami, to name a few. After climaxing in the PR industry in Miami, Charisse contemplated moving back to New York or moving across the country to Los Angeles to continue to grow her PR career. The perfect California weather made it an easy choice and
it also gave her an opportunity to experience a new culture of PR and network with new, bright people. Upon her arrival to Los Angeles, Charisse served as an Account Executive in the Hospitality + Events Division at Entertainment Fusion Group (EFG). Her clients included Playboy, NYLON, XXIV Karat Champagne, Keratin Complex, Cake Nightclub, State Social House and VEEV Spirits. Charisse parted ways with EFG in order to focus and build on her personal brand and work alongside C.luxe Brand Management, a lifestyle agency that specializes in custom brand solutions, public relations, strategic partnerships and corporate consulting to run the PR division for clients.
Since then Charisse has had many successful freelance projects with agencies in Los Angeles. One of her most fond of projects includes being co-creator of the highly buzzed about summer brunch series named 40z and Waffles. 40z and Waffles has quickly become an LA household name and has featured pop-ups at big time national events such as NBA All-Star Weekend, Coachella, OVO Fest and Trillectro.
With almost a decade of experience, Charisse still LOVES getting clients amazing features and write-ups and hopes to continue to do so with her own consulting firm “Milano Consulting”; all while mentoring young aspiring publicists for the next decade to come!
