I recently took a trip back home to Washington, D.C. to visit my family and while I was home my Dad and I were having a conversation when I mentioned I consider myself a unicorn. He quickly said, “What the H*LL is a Unicorn?” and I said a horse with a horn! He just shook his head and said, “you’re crazy.” I then go on to try to explain to him what all the craze about unicorns was and he interrupts me to ask, “Have you EVER seen one of these Unicorns?” and I simply say no. Then explain, the reason I am a unicorn is because I am rare, just like a unicorn haha! Have I ever seen a unicorn?….No….Do I believe they exist?….Yes!!
I go on to say that just because something doesn’t seem tangible, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Even more so, meaning it will never exist or it will never happen. There will always be light at the end of the tunnel. I am 30 years old and finally launching my own brand, my own company and doing things my way. There is no set time on when you’ll get your dream job, dream guy, or dream home but there’s always time to change or reshape the way you define your life.
For me, this year of turning 30 has changed so many things in my life. I had to decide what I really wanted to do. One thing that has always made me happy was PR. I never wanted to do anything else, so I’m finally letting the world see what I’ve been up to, what I’ve worked on and what is to come is super exciting for me!
Each month (can’t do more than once a month, otherwise I would have been a blogger a long time ago) I will post a unicorn note about my experience in the PR industry from new trends, notable moments and just other takeaways I think aspiring publicists would love to read!
XOXO,
